Security Training
Under the Private Security Industry Act 2001, all workers in specific parts of the private security sector need a licence. However, before they can apply for the licence, they need a recognised qualification. Upon completion of our nationally recognised Security qualifications, which has been endorsed by edexcel and the Security Industry Authority (SIA), learners will be able to apply for their licence, giving them more reasons to be motivated for success and employment.
Changes are currently being made to security qualifications for Security Industry Authority (SIA) licensing in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Edexcel’s BTEC Security qualifications currently on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) will be moving on to the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) from 2010. They are:
The guided learning hours (GLH) for Door Supervision have not yet been confirmed.
The draft units for qualifications for qualifications going live in February and March 2010 include:
- Level 2, Unit 1, Working in the Private Security Industry
- Level 2, Unit 2(a), Working as a Security Officer
- Level 2, Unit 2(b), Working as a Vehicle Immobiliser
- Level 2, Unit 2(c), Working as a CCTV Operator
- Level 2, Unit 3(a), Operation of CCTV Equipment
- Level 2, Unit 3(b), Conflict Management
- Level 3, Unit 1, Working as a Close Protection Operative
