What is the SIA? The SIA is the Security Industry Authority it is a government body regulating the security industry.
How many door supervisors have you trained? At the last count over 800 in the last 3 years.
What is your pass rate? 99.9%
Can I work once I have done the training? Yes, but only for companies that have achieved ACS (Approved contractors scheme) approval from the SIA.
How much does it cost? The training costs £199 and the licence costs £245 Valid for three years.
Do I have to do any refresher training when I want to renew my licence? No, they is no refresher training for renewals. Do I have to do the full course if I already have a security licence? Yes, although you already have you security licence the SIA require you to do the full 4 days for door supervision, but your second licence will only cost £122.50
Will i get a certificate? Yes, on successful completion of the course passing both parts you will receive two certificate from EDEXCEL for BTEC level two in door supervision and conflict management.
How long will it take to get a licence? This will depend on the individual application but the SIA have improved greatly recently, the quickest we know of is 20 days but the average is 3-6 months. Is there much work for door supervisors? Yes, there is a lot of work for door supervisors or security officers ranging from £6 - £9 Per hour for security and £10 - £18 for door supervisors. Please check you local press for adverts.
Where can I work once I have the licence? Once you have your Door supervisors licence you can in any licensed premises in England, Wales or Scotland. i.e Hotels, pubs, nightclubs, shops, music festivals, etc but also work in many security job roles such as office blocks, building site security, Mod sites, ports and docks and many more.

What is the difference between security and door supervision? The main difference between security and door supervisors is door supervisors work on licensed premises and have a hands on role where as security officers can't work on licensed premises and are there to Observe, Witness and Report.

What equipment will i need? For the training none, your favourite pen if you want. When working this will depend on where you work but we recommend getting a stab vest, ear piece and good comfortable boots/shoes(not steel toe cap).
I have dyslexia will i get help with the exam? Yes, help is at hand for anyone with learning difficulties.
Will there be an exam? Yes there are two multiple choice exams.
what is a door supervisor? commonly know as a bouncer, doorman, door steward or doors staff. A door supervisors is some one in the role of security on licensed premises.
whats the difference between a bouncer and a door supervisor? Bouncers got they licence to work from local authorities, a door supervisor gets they licence to work from the SIA. Bouncers got they name as they would bounce people out of clubs or pubs, door supervisors do the same job but now we use reasonable and necessary force.
